The list for Dr. Beach’s “10 Best Beaches” in the U.S. has been issued for 2016, and once again, Cape Cod’s beloved Coast Guard Beach is on the list.
Coast Guard Beach, the barrier stretch of shoreline where Henry Beston wrote his classic book, “The Outermost House,” checked in at No. 5 on the list.
The good doctor, also known as coastal expert and Florida International University professor Stephen P. Leatherman, issues his annual list on the basis of 50 criteria, including water and sand quality, and has placed more emphasis on beach safety, environmental management and no-smoking policies.
